ARABIC & ISLAMIC STUDIES

At Olive High pupils are able to study Arabic & Islamic Studies as part of the modern foreign language and Religious Studies curriculum. The language curriculum focuses on skills such as listening, reading, and writing basic Arabic. Pupils should be able to communicate in the language studied beyond what is necessary. By Key stage 4 pupils should begin to converse independently using different tones and expressions.

In the Islamic Studies curriculum, students will be looking at basic Islamic law & jurisprudence and Prophetic Traditions. There will also cover Islamic etiquette.

Pupils will be entitled to 1 lesson of Arabic & Islamic Studies per week. This accounts for a total of 1 hour per week
