Admission
All prospective students will be asked to complete an application form to begin the registration process. After the application is accepted, applicants will be asked to sit an entrance exam. Upon successfully passing the exam*, students will be offered a place at the school. Currently, applications are open to prospective year 7 students for this September onwards. Year 8 and 9 applications will be considered only in extenuating circumstances, subject to space. We do not accept applications in year 10 and 11.

Our annual fees for the academic year 2024/2025 is £2300, usually paid in 4 instalments of £575. Our fees are reviewed annually and usually go up 5% per year. Please click here for more information.
Please note: GCSE Examination fees are not included in the annual fees. The fees vary between £500 to £800 in total and will be split between year 10 and 11.
There is a 10% discount for any second child and a further 15% discount for any third child and any siblings after.
*We do not share the results of the assessments, only a pass/fail grading will be given to parents.
Students applying to Olive High will be required to sit tests in English, Maths and Science to establish their current level and to help us in determining baselines for pupils. The test will assess the student’s ability to reason with and manipulate different types of material through a series of verbal, non-verbal, quantitative and spatial ability tasks. The test also helps the school pinpoint gifted and talented students.
Pupils are required to bring in basic stationary (HB pencil, a rubber and sharpener) for the tests, which usually take place in the first term of their year 6 (we will write to you with the test date). The school will write to you within 8 weeks of taking the exam notifying you of the outcome.
Our data mapping and survey of the local area showed that the majority of students in our community speak other languages at home, apart from English. Consequently, we will incorporate literacy in all subjects to raise the standard of English in our students.
Currently, we do not have suitable provisions for students with ‘specific’ special educational needs. However, we have a strategy in place to monitor students and if a learning difficulty is identified, we will inform the parents and help them in finding external support. We also have an ‘Accessibility Policy’ in place.
SMSC plays an integral part at Olive High. We champion and firmly believe in a holistic education where pupils can strive for excellence in SMSC. Our curriculum ensures that our pupils receive a comprehensive SMSC experience. We recognise that the development of pupils, spiritually, morally, socially and culturally plays a significant part not only in their ability to learn and achieve but in their ability to relate fully to and have the ability to access the world they live in.
We therefore aim to provide an education that provides children with opportunities to explore and develop their own values and wider British values, whilst recognising that those of others may differ.
Beliefs, spiritual awareness, high standards of personal behaviour including a positive caring attitude towards other people, an understanding of their social and cultural traditions and an appreciation of the diversity and richness of other cultures are all critical skills and dispositions that we nurture, encourage and develop through our subject and wider curriculum.
In September 2021, we became a ‘Archbishop of York Young Leaders Award School’.
